POP French jazz band, Laurent Coq Trio, will tonight perform at a jazz concert at The Zimbabwe Academy of Music’s Robert Sibson Hall in Bulawayo.
REPORT BY SINDISO DUBE
The band will be supported by Zimbabwe’s jazz sensation Willis Wataffi.
Organised by The Alliance Française de Bulawayo, the concert is part of the arts and cultural programmes held occasionally in collaboration with the French embassy.
The three are some of the best pianists and guitarists in Europe and play soft and intimate jazz.
They have performed across Europe and America and this month and in July they will explore Africa.
Laurent Coq started playing the piano at the age of seven and in 1988 he went to Parisian Jazz School where he stayed for two years before proceeding to study in New York, US.
As time passed by, Laurent started teaching music and then he formed Laurent Coq Trio with mainly a pianist, himself, accompanied by a vocalist and a guitarist.
