Shantel Rusike of Sunninghill in Bulawayo, who works as a shop assistant in the central business district, has not been formally charged.

Yesterday she appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Tawanda Muchemwa, who remanded her to June 25.

She is out of custody on $100 bail. The court heard that on December 24 last year at 11:49pm, Rusere sent a picture depicting Mugabe naked on a social chat platform, WhatsApp.

The picture had a caption that read: “Robert Mugabe turning 87 years on February 21, 2011. Happy birthday Matibili operation.”

A report made to the police led to Rusike’s arrest.
