Substitute Daniel Kamhunenga, who came in for Tawanda Muyendi in the 79th minute, struck the all-important winner four minutes after coming in, benefiting from a goalmouth mêlée to send the home crowd into a frenzy.

The win ensured that Triangle picked up four points in their last two matches having come away with a 1-1 draw against How Mine at Luveve Stadium last week. The win moved them to 12th position with 16 points at the halfway stage of the season.

For Mambas, it has been a bad four days — they drew 0-0 against FC Platinum last Wednesday in Harare before the latest loss which, however, leaves them in ninth position with 19 points from 15 matches.

Triangle coach Gishon Ntini said his team played well and believed his team is not going to be chopped off.

“We missed a lot of chances, but I think we played very well and we are showing signs that we are a good team that can survive relegation.

“We just need to collect maximum points in the next games,” Ntini said in his post match interview.

Mambas assistant coach Martin Bonyongwe said they missed a lot of chances and hoped they would turn the tables against the same team in the reverse fixture in Harare in two weeks’ time.
