TRIPPLE B are after the signature of Zimbabwe Saints defender Nkosilathi “Rambo” Dube, as they plot their Castle Lager Premiership survival going into the second half of the season.

Report by Fortune Mbele

Dube played for Zimbabwe Saints as a right-back when Chikwata returned to the Premiership in 2011, coached by Willard Mashinkila-Khumalo, Agent Sawu, Admore Sibanda and Ephraim Chawanda.

He then went to Botswana to Ecco City, his previous club before Chikwata, and only returned at the beginning of the year and rejoined Zimbabwe Saints.

A source yesterday told Southern Eye Sport  that Tripple B coach Peter Manoti, who took over from Friday Phiri, had approached the defender to take part in a friendly match they were organising with fellow Premiership newcomers How Mine in Beitbridge so they could assess him.

The steely Dube, a backbone of the Zimbabwe Saints defence in 2003, confirmed that he had been approached by the Tripple B gaffer.

“I met the man (Manoti). He is interested in my services. He said they are organising a friendly game midweek against How Mine. So he wants me to play in that game. He said they want me up to the end of the season and then if we survive we will go for a long-term contract,” Dube said.

As it stands, Tripple B have a chance of surviving the chop, but their major undoing has been travelling even for some of their home matches after Dulibadzimu Stadium was condemned by the Premier Soccer League (PSL)as unfit for big matches.

They lost 2-0 to champions Dynamos in a midweek league match which was moved to Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane in April. Tripple B also lost 3-2 to log leaders Highlanders at Mandava and salvaged a point from Caps United in a 2-2 draw in Zvishavane last month.

The border town side unreservedly accepted the PSL directive to move its big home matches to Mandava after the league said Dulibadzimu did not have the capacity to host big teams.

Going into the close of the first half of the season, Tripple B have beaten Motor Action and Buffaloes in Beitbridge and moved away from the basement of the log standings to third from the bottom.
