Hosiah Chipanga returns to Gweru

GWERU — Controversial musician Hosiah Chipanga will tomorrow perform at Salaco Nite Club City in Mtapa after two years without coming to the city.

Report by Stephen Chadenga.

Chipanga, popular with lyrics which centre on social and political commentary once sang a song in praise of President Robert Mugabe called Gushungo, but now wants to contest the ageing leader.

The sungura “Godfather” who once announced he would shelve his musical career because of piracy, is expected to perform hits like Vapange Chipanga, Sahwira Wenyika, Kurongerana, Musikavanhu, Shinda Isina Tsono, among others.

Salaco owner Langton Nyashanu said his club will host Chipanga as part of the entertainment joint’s thrust to bring reputable artistes to Gweru.

“We want to give our patrons as well as the Gweru community entertainment so as to warm them up in the otherwise chilly weather the city is known for,” he said. “We urge music lovers to come in their numbers and have a night and weekend to remember.”
