MDC-T deputy organising secretary Abednigo Bhebhe has dismissed claims that he was propagating violence and encouraging MDC-T supporters to poison Zanu PF supporters.

State media yesterday alleged that Bhebhe uttered such statements while addressing mourners at a funeral of a ward chairperson in his constituency in Nkayi South.

“Honestly, for a person of my calibre to be (accused of) spewing such rubbish and a childish statement is an insult to my being,” he said.

Bhebhe threatened to sue the reporter who wrote the story, accusing the media of destroying people’s characters.

“I understand in his field the golden rule is never to reveal a source, hence my legal action will be directed to this reporter, as I told him in an interview to first verify his facts before going to print,” he said.

The Nkayi South legislator said the State media had invested a lot of time in “tarnishing images and no one has raised an eyebrow to this unfair representation of character”.

The Chronicle alleged that Bhebhe was going around intimidating people whom he suspected did not vote for him and accused the legislator of causing divisions and hatred in the area.
