Sulu is billed to serenade the City of Progress at the Midlands Hotel today before jetting out of Gweru in a private jet to the resort town of Victoria Falls for the UNWTO Tourism Night.

He will fly out with his entire band for the UNWTO function being co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Zambia. Joe Nyamungoma, Sulu’s manager, confirmed the sungura king-pin will first perform in Gweru before jetting out a few hours later to the resort town of Victoria Falls.

“We are to descend on the Midlands city of Gweru before we fly to Victoria Falls. We promise the best of dendera music to our fans,” he said. Meanwhile organisers of the Tourism Night yesterday told Southern Eye Lifestyle that all was set for the function slated for Victoria Falls Primary School tomorrow.

The event, coming after the initially planned Victoria Falls street carnival was cancelled due to lack of funds, will see performances from top musicians such as Sulu, Jah Prayzah, Winky D, Mokoomba and Sandra Ndebele, among others.

Sugar Chagonda, head of corporate affairs at the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority said the resort town would explode tomorrow ahead of the official opening of the UNWTO assembly which starts on Saturday.

“We can safely say that all has been set for the Tourism Night, which is going to feature various artistes from around the country,” he said. Most of the artistes to perform at the UNWTO gala have promised fireworks.
