FIFA has provisionally suspended Dynamos midfielder Devon Chafa for 30 days after he tested positive for a banned substance during a World Cup qualifying match, reports said on Monday.

Athough Fifa did not identify the player, the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) had last week confirmed that Chafa was facing suspension.

He reportedly failed a test after Zimbabwe’s 4-2 loss to Egypt at the National Sports Stadium in Harare in June 9.

Chafa and Zifa were given up to September 16 to submit statements and evidence for the disciplinary case.

Zimbabwe is winless from its five Group G matches and cannot reach the last round of continental qualifying. – Sports Reporter/ Agencies
