Allegations against Edigar Nyamuzuwe are that sometime in August 2013, he met a 15-year-old Form 2 girl from Gwanda High School on her way from the market at Spitzkop and proposed love to her which she accepted.

At an unknown date in September, the State said Nyamuzuwe asked the girl to visit him at his workplace and upon arrival the two had consensual sex once.

The matter came to light on September 29 when the girl’s mother arrived and discovered that her daughter was not at home. The girl arrived home at 3am and on being questioned she revealed that she had been with Nyamuzuwe.

The mother reported the matter to the police, leading to Nyamuzuwe’s arrest.

In passing sentence, the magistrate said he considered Nyamuzuwe was a first time offender and had pleaded guilty. Medical and age estimation reports were produced in court.
