The former Warriors and Kaizer Chiefs hardman underwent athroscopy yesterday in Johannesburg.

“I am having a small operation to clean my knee today (yesterday), so I will be out for a few weeks recovering,” Sweswe confirmed yesterday.

His start to the new Absa Premier League season has been delayed after Wits registered him as a local and had to wait for two months for his residence permit papers. He finally received it two weeks ago.

Sweswe, who has also seen duty at Zimbabwe football giants Dynamos and Highlanders, is the fourth local at Wits after former Warriors skipper Benjani Mwaruwari, Tinashe Nengomasha and Denver Mukamba. Sweswe will now miss this weekend’s Telkom Knockout.
