The hardworking openside flank, also equally at home in the second row, suffered a concussion during last weekend’s semi-final match at Harare Sports Club which his team won 33-22 to qualify for the final set for Old Hararians Sports Club.

Chipendu, a decent ball-carrier and normally one of the first to breakdowns has been a key member of the Old Georgians’ pack of forwards which had been the mainstay of the team as they have bullied every pack in the league all season. Old Georgians captain Jacques Leitao, who has formed a strong combination with Chipendu for both club and country, said they were disappointed to lose the Mabvuku-born player.

He was, however, quick to point out that the Groombridge-based side had equally capable replacements in their ranks. “Unfortunately, we won’t have Fortune for the final as he still hasn’t fully recovered after suffering a concussion during the semi-final against Harare Sports Club.” Leitao said.
