KWEKWE — Police investigating the murder of Jonathan Mpofu, who allegedly died at the hands of three Masendeke brothers Elson, Ernest and Edward, arrested another one of the siblings Elliot (26) who was found in illegal possession of explosives.

Police had been looking for Elliot, who they also suspected of involvement in the brutal beating of Mpofu who was found dead in Mbizo 4 high-density suburb after a fight with the brothers.

“On October 5 detectives from Kwekwe, carrying out investigations on a case of murder in which the accused person is a suspect, intercepted him at Chimona Mine turn off and searched him. They found him in possession of a capped fuse,” part of the charge sheet reads.

Elliot pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of explosives without a permit when he appeared before Kwekwe provincial magistrate Taurai Manwere.

He was remanded in custody for sentencing and will join his brother Elson who has been in remand prison since his arrest in Kadoma in March over murder allegations.
