Chirau handed over 10kg mealie-meal, soap, sugar and salt to each of the 10 senior citizens during a ward development gommittee meeting where he also urged residents to unite regardless of their political affiliation for the development of the ward.

“In the last few weeks, we have assisted at funerals of two Zanu PF members,” Chirau said.

“I urge you to take a leaf from that and unite despite your different political backgrounds in the development of this ward. We will create a ward compassionate committee to meet the needs of residents, particularly the elderly, who have no one to look after them.

“This is just the beginning as I will go on to donate food hampers to another group of 10 elderly people until all of them (in the ward) are covered,” he added.

Chirau said he was going to assist in the building of a school in his ward which comprises Mkoba 4 and 5.
