BUSINESS came to a standstill in most parts of Bulawayo including the central business district (CBD) yesterday following a power cut that lasted over four hours. A source said the power outage was as a result of a fault at the Insukamini substation caused by rains. Senior Reporter

“There was problem with power lines in the city that had been damaged by the rains which fell all night yesterday (Friday),” a source said.

“It was a minor problem, but it took long to rectify than we had expected.”

Some businesses in the CBD were forced to use generators while others closed early.

The electricity outage started after 11am and power was only restored just before 3pm. Zesa spokesperson Fullard Gwasira could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone went unanswered.
