Buhlebenkosi Linda (24), one of the occupants of the house, suffered minor injuries and was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment.

When a Southern Eye crew visited the house yesterday afternoon, Linda was recuperating at home after being discharged from hospital. The visibly shaken house owner Sithengeni Gumbo, said the family was relaxing when they heard a sound coming towards the house and suddenly found themselves in the open.

“We were relaxing as a family and all of a sudden we saw ourselves outside with my young sister injured and crying,” Gumbo said.

Gumbo said the driver of the vehicle seemed to be drunk and the car was full of empty bottles and Dynamos Football Club flags.

“I think that boy was celebrating the Dynamos league title win and was over-speeding because if he had been driving at a reasonable speed, there was no way the car could have rammed through the precast wall and into the house. I think he was speeding,” Gumbo said.

She said they had met the family of the driver who rammed into their house and agreed on terms of repairing the damage to the house.

Police were not immediately available for comment.
