This was heard by Bulawayo magistrate Charity Maphosa on Saturday when Joshua Samende (22) appeared in court on rape charges. Samende, who also resides at Ross Camp, was not asked to plead and remanded in custody to December 17.

The court heard that on November 28, Samende visited the woman at 11:30am and found her in the kitchen. He sat in the lounge and she later joined him.

The two then watched a romantic African movie and it was alleged that when it ended, Samende told the woman he wanted to do what they had just watched.

The woman tried to flee, but Samende allegedly grabbed her and started fondling her on the sofa.

He allegedly carried her to the spare bedroom where he raped her once before leaving.

She made a report to the police, leading to Samende’s arrest.  Twitter feedback @silasnkala
