“I am so excited. I thank Choppies and I can’t believe I won through a product worth $0,52 cents. This really goes to my God,” Gambo said.

“I do not know what to do and I cannot believe this! Is this my car? Where are my keys please? Hand them to me.

“Oh, let me call my friends and make them know that I have won a car,” an elated Namenda said.

“I thank God for this wonderful gift and I am so excited because my day has finally come,” Chadora said.

Another notable winner was Lennford Nyoni who walked away with a deep freezer, double-door fridge, four-plate stove and a microwave. Janet Mafu of Entumbane won three bicycles in different draws.

Choppies managing director Raj Modi promised a bigger competition next year saying it was a way of giving back to the community.

“As Choppies, we want to give a big applause to our valued customers and we promise to do more than that,” he said.

“We want to increase the number of cars we are giving to the community.”

All retail shops formerly owned by Modi under Sai Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd have been rebranded to Choppies following the takeover of the business by Botswana’s biggest retail firm Choppies Enterprises Limited last year.
