JOHANESBURG – Moroka Swallows are fighting to keep their defender Gilbert Mapemba when his contract expires in June.

The Zimbabwean international, Mapemba has already attracted interest from AmaZulu and SuperSport United.

Coach Zeca Marques told Goal that they are still interested in the player’s services, hence they are doing all they can to keep him at the team for a another two or three years.

“He is a good player and that’s why the team are in talks with him to keep him here until further notice. You know he hasn’t played a lot this season, because he was injured towards the end of last season and it took time for his knee to heal,” Marques told Goal.

“But he is back in action and he is ready for fight back into the team and claim his place,” Marques told Goal.

Mapemba joined Swallows three years ago from Zimbabwe side CAPS United and he has been doing very well for the Dube Birds, so they wouldn’t want to lose him to another local side.
