All set for Dugmore tourney

BGC secretary Kelvin Chitena yesterday confirmed to Southern Eye Sport that the two-day competition will be on this weekend. “The Dugmore and Fellowship Cup is on this Saturday and Sunday. So far we have 32 entries for the Dugmore while The Fellowship Cup has 36 entries,” he said.

“We are still expecting more golfers to come to register before the close of the entries today (yesterday).”

The Fellowship Cup is 36-hole team stableford while the Dugmore Trophy is 72-hole individual strokeplay. Matabeleland Golf Association president Mufaro Chivonivoni, BGC captain Todd Van Breda — also the convenor of the Dugmore and Fellowship Cup, Kwangwari Kwangwari, Crispen Magosvongwe, football legend Ebson “Sugar” Muguyo are some of the amateurs expected to take part in the competition.

Jebus Karuru, Mayford Sibanda, Rodgers Kamamba, Sheperd Huni as well as junior golfers who include Jack Allard and Irvine Nembaware will also feature in the competition.

Players who have a good tournament will receive trophies.

The competition is on the Zimbabwe Golf Association calendar.
