SCORES of aspiring teachers yesterday thronged the Gwanda District Civil Service Commission (CSC) offices in response to a recruitment drive for maths and science educators.

In a notice pasted outside the CSC offices, Gwanda district needs 15 permanent maths teachers and four relief teachers for secondary schools.
The district is also in need of 12 science teachers as well as one physical science teacher.
In total, 38 permanent and 15 relief teachers are needed to fill vacant teaching posts in Gwanda district.
A total of 28 permanent teachers and three special education teachers are also required to fill vacancies in primary schools in the district.
Priority in recruitment was being given to newly qualified graduates as well as re-appointees with approval letters.
Retirees with retirement letters were also being considered.

Others said some posts were filled before the interviews were done.
