Marime is hoping to extend his tally from three goals this afternoon as the coal miners host Black Rhinos at the Colliery Stadium.

The former Tripple B hitman has made three PSL appearances for his new club and opened his scoring account against FC Platinum at Mandava through a brace that contributed to Hwange’s dramatic 3-2 win against the Zvishavane side.

Marime defied odds last season, bagging 11 PSL goals despite playing for the fragile side Triple B who were chopped from the top-flight league.

“I am happy at Hwange and what we want is to win. There are some teams I considered in the pre-season, but I made the final decision to join Hwange. I am targeting about 25 league goals this season,” he declared.

The Hwange forward scored his third goal of the season against Highlanders in a 1-1 stalemate at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

Hwange is one of three teams together with Bosso and ZPC Kariba that are yet to taste defeat and they will be hoping to maintain their form against the army side this afternoon.

They won two and drew two of their opening four matches and are on position three, trailing log leaders Dynamos who are on nine points by a single point and Bosso who are on second position on virtue of superior goal deference.

Hwange massacred Buffaloes 5-1 at the Colliery in their opening match of the season with Warriors forward Rodwell Chinyengetere who returned from an 18-month injury stealing the show with two goals for the coal miners on his return.

They then travelled to Zvishavane where they staged a dramatic comeback cancelling the hosts’ first half two quick goals to emerge 3-2 victors, before playing two 1-1 draws against Triangle and Highlanders at the Colliery and BF respectively.

Black Rhinos striker Beavan Chikaka said although Hwange have proven to be a mountain to climb this season, the army side will fight for positive results.

The former Highlanders striker said it has never been easy to play against Hwange at their own backyard, but was looking forward to hitting the target for Rhinos.

“I am looking forward to scoring; we have been playing well as a team. I can say we had a fair start to the season. We won two and lost two of our last games which is not bad. It is not an easy task to beat Hwange at the Colliery, but we are going to fight as a team to get positive results,” Chikaka said.

Chikaka scored his first goal for the army side on Sunday as Rhinos narrowly edged Chiredzi FC 2-1 at Rimuka Stadium, although television replays clearly showed that his goal had not crossed the line.

They beat Bantu Rovers in the first game of the season at Luveve Stadium 1-0, lost to Chapungu and Shabanie Mine 0-1 and 0-2 respectively before winning 2-1 against the struggling Chiredzi FC.
