BANGALORE -Heath Streak, the former Zimbabwe pacer, was appointed bowling coach by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday . Streak, who inked a two-year deal, is expected to join the squad in the first week of June.

Streak, who picked up 216 wickets in 65 Tests, will work for 450 days with the Bangladesh bowlers and other teams under the board. Streak, 40, said he was excited about working with the Bangladesh bowlers. “I look forward to the challenge of working with the Tigers and thank BCB for the opportunity,” said Streak. “It is exciting for me to be back into the international coaching arena again. It is my passion to coach at an elite level.

“I hope I can bring my experience as a former player and coach to the Bangladeshi bowlers,” he added. “I look forward to teaming up with the new coaching staff and mapping the future for this exciting team.”

Streak worked as Zimbabwe’s bowling coach from 2009 to 2013. He will join Chandika Hathurusinghe, the former Sri Lankan batsmen who was appointed as the head coach of the Bangladesh cricket team earlier this month.

Hearh-StreakJalal Yunus, BCB’s media committee chairman, hoped Streak’s international record and his experience of working as a coach in the international arena will help the Bangladesh team. “Heath Streak’s experience and record speaks for him,” said Yunus. “He has worked with some top bowling coaches in the international arena and has told us that coaching was his passion and we really appreciate that kind of desire.”
