FORMER AmaZulu and How Mine defender Herbert Dick is back in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League and this time with Bantu Rovers.
Thandiwe Moyo Sports Correspondent Dick played in Bantu Rovers’ league encounter against Triangle at Luveve Stadium yesterday.
He dismissed earlier reports that he had retired from local football saying he had a running contract with How Mine which recently came to an end.
“Those were just stories that were written. I never retired, but I was not fitting in the team that is why I was not playing. I was with How Mine before my contract with them ran its course,” he said.
Dick said he was training with How Mine, but had since joined Bantu Rovers with speculation rife that he could be fulfilling his earlier contractual obligations.
In October last year, Dick penned a contract with Bantu Rovers and was given $1 500 out of the $3 000 he had been promised as signing on fee, but reneged on the agreement.
The veteran defender has not been action since last year when his team played Highlanders in the Mbada Diamonds Cup at the end of November.
“It was hard playing today because I last played my last match last year against Highlanders. I was sidelined for some time due to injury and I have been training for the past two months with How Mine. It was not my year with How Mine but I am back now,” said Dick.
