New West moved down one place on the standings to settle at 10th with 12 points, one behind Mpumalanga on ninth.

Clayton Lungu and Shupai Ngwenya were on target for Mpumalanga while Eriko Phiri scored the consolation goal for New West. Only two matches were played in the league as the Division One teams brace for the second half.

This season 13 teams are in the league after Zimbabwe Saints and Kabwe Warriors pulled out early in the year.

The two teams failed to pay affiliation fees and had to be excluded from the league.

In another match ZPC Hwange was victorious over Portland Cement who failed to utilise home advantage. Fortune Rusape scored the only goal of the game in ZPC Hwange’s 1-0 win. ZPC Hwange moved two places up the log to fifth with 22 points from six wins and four draws while Portland remained rooted at second from bottom with seven points from one win and four draws.

Portland Cement will bank on the fact that they still have two games in hand this weekend against New West and next week they will play Mpumalanga.

Mpumalanga will play Tsholotsho this weekend.
