The Chinda Boys came into the match desperate to collect maximum points following the 1-2 loss to their rivals at Mandava two weeks ago.

For FC Platinum coach Lloyd Mutasa was determined to collect maximum points as well to repay the faith put in him by the executive to keep his job.

After the match he was happy with the result though he felt his charges could have won.

“We deserved to win the game, but we failed to convert the chances we got in the dying stages. A draw in a derby and away from home is not a bad result. I am happy with the overall performance of the boys,” said Mutasa.

Shabanie Mine coach John Phiri felt his charges were yet to gel following the departure of some stars in the current transfer window.

“We lacked experience because most of our players have not been playing regularly. But they played well and given more time they would be fine. They will be able to compete against the best,” he said.

The host’s liveliest performer, Godknows Murwira, had two shots at goal in the opening half which troubled Petros Mhari in goal for the platinum miners, but the visitors’ defenders were quick to clear their lines and avert danger on both occasions.

Twenty minutes after the breather the Chinda Boys captain Smart Muchabaiwa’s beautifully taken free-kick crashed against the woodwork with Mhari a beaten man.

The platinum miners’ juniors product Blessing Sahondo got a glorious chance to win the match when he raced clear, but his goal-bound shot was blocked by an exposed Victor Twaliki in goal for the hosts.
