A LUPANE man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sodomising his workmate at knife point.

RICHARD MUPONDE SENIOR COURT REPORTER Amleka Ncube (20) who was employed as a herd boy together with the complainant, pleaded not guilty to sodomy, but was convicted by Hwange regional magistrate for Western Division, Dambudzo Malunga, on Monday.

Two years of his sentence were conditionally suspended for five years.

Prosecutor Tawanda Sigauke told the court that on June 8 at around 1am, Ncube and his victim were at a Lupane plot where they were employed. The two were sleeping in the same bedroom hut and on the same mat, but under different blankets. Ncube sneaked into the complainant’s blankets, undressed him and started sodomising him.

The complainant woke up and tried to resist, but Ncube drew a knife and threatened to stab him.

Fearing for his life, the complainant gave in to Ncube’s demands.

The matter came to light after the complainant ran away from his workplace and went to live in the bush fearing further abuse by Ncube.

He later told his employer, who made a police report four days later.

The complainant was taken to St Luke’s Hospital where a medical report confirmed that he had been sodomised.
