In an interview with Southern Eye Business recently, TrenTyre area manager Basil Nyabanga said the firm was mulling plans to open shop in Bindura, Kwekwe and Victoria Falls.

He urged local businesses not to relocate to Harare, saying the economic environment was the same in the rest of the country.

“Bulawayo industry has been killed by the mindset of thinking that Harare is doing well in terms of business and this is the reason why we have had a lot of company relocations to Harare,” Nyabanga said.

“However, if you make a follow-up on those companies relocated to Harare, you will find out that the capacity utilisation is less than 30% because of the nature of the economy which is not stable.”

Nyabanga said TrenTyre was in Bulawayo to stay. “We might be opening some branches in Victoria Falls, Kwekwe and Bindura.

“We have the stock and we hope the playground would be levelled,” he added.

He lashed out at Chinese and Nigerian business people, accusing them of siphoning money from Zimbabwe, hence the issue of liquidity crunch coming into force.

“The government should have the limit of the amount of money that is being carried out of the country to avoid the liquidity crisis we facing,” Nyabanga said.

TrenTyre is one of the largest tyre service providers in Southern Africa. Established in 1948, the firm manufactures new multi-brand tyres, retreaded tyres, and wheels and offers allied services to cater for its customer needs.

The company delivers these products and services via an extensive countrywide branch and retread factory network on-site facilities. It is under the Pioneer group of companies that comprises Bulwark, Swift and Pioneer Transport.
