Bovas (24) told Southern Eye that the rising Zim dancehall waves cannot be resisted any more in the City of Kings and Queens, saying the winds of change were fast blowing.

“Kwaito and house music have for years dominated the Bulawayo industry, but this is soon becoming a thing of the past as we are pushing for the takeover of dancehall.

“Go into most local night clubs and you will understand what I am talking about,” he said.

The upcoming musician who is one of the few dancehall musicians, said his new six-track album Ndachitwa will bear testimony to what he termed “new stuff from fresh minds”.

Though the Soul Jah Love-inspired musician lamented lack of music promoters keen on the genré, he however, remained upbeat.

“My new album has already started making waves in some of the local radio stations and I am quite confident that without fail we are going to put Bulawayo as the second destination for dancehall after Harare,” Bovas boasted.

His debut album Ndakakanganisa released last year, according to him, did not do well in the market since he was still learning the ropes.

The young artiste said he was glad that he had managed to share the stage with Harare dancehall godfathers Shinsoman, Killer T and Snipper Storm.

“This actually gave me the experience that boosted confidence that I could do it he said.”

Bovas’ new album, whose launch date is yet to be announced, carries potentially explosive tracks such as Mad Time, Anorwadziwa and the title track Ndachitwa.

Other tracks include Vanofeeler Dizzy, Tipei Doro and Dai Muripo.

Already Vanochitwa and Vanofeeler Dizzy are on video.

The project was recorded at Wisdom Records and produced by popular local King Krued.

On the new project, Bovas featured Centre Party, Daddy Simba and Cris Dreams.

“As a way of trying to have Bulawayo talent penetrate the citadel of dancehall which is Harare, I am currently working on featuring Sir Callas and Kinnah on my next project,” he said.
