A National University of Science and Technology (Nust) student, Vimbai Berita Chinembiri, has been selected to participate in a regional debate competition in Pretoria, South Africa, after winning the national rounds of essay contest.

Chinembiri will join six other national winners next week for the regional debate, with the overall winner being announced there after.

“Each institution will have 20 minutes to state their case or argument based on the topic they wrote about in the essay,” the rules of the debate contest read.

“Thereafter questions will be posed to the presenter by the judges and the audience.”

Other regional winners are from Malawi, Swaziland, Botswana, South Africa and two from Zambia.

The essay competition is an initiative of the Centre for the Study of Aids at the University of Pretoria, SA.
