A BINGA man allegedly axed his uncle to death before hanging himself on Tuesday following a dispute over withcraft.

Richard Muponde/ Nokuthaba Dlamini Police officer commanding Hwange District chief superintendent Bravo Antonio confirmed the murder and the suicide that happened in Chief Siachilaba’s area.

The nephew has been identified as Chipo Munkuli of Bunsiwa village and his uncle’s name is Robert Munkuli. Sources said the two had a long-standing feud that started in 2008 and were not on talking terms.

“The accused consulted a traditional healer sometime in 2008 and he was told that he was being bewitched by his uncle,” a source said.

“The two had not been on talking terms, but last week Chipo approached his uncle and said he intended to kill him for causing him bad luck.

“On Tuesday Chipo went to his uncle’s homestead and started blaming him for his poverty.

“As the argument heated up, Chipo picked an axe and struck his uncle on the head, leading to his instant death.”

Chipo reportedly left his uncle’s homestead and his body was found hanging from a tree yesterday morning. The two bodies are being kept at the Binga Hospital mortuary.
