“There will be a roadshow that will go to areas like Mzilikazi, Lobengula West, Njube, Mpopoma, Pelandaba, Mabuthweni, Iminyela and Magwegwe West,” he said. “The aim is to create awareness on the games. We want to create excitement. We want people to feel that the games are here.

“Billboards for Fifth Avenue and Airport Road have already been done. We are going to have more billboards on First Avenue, Khami Road, Luveve Road, Plumtree Road. We will have billboards at Harare International Airport and Beitbridge Border Post.”

Ndebele said as a way of keeping the city clean they would not go around throwing flyers.

“We are not going to be throwing flyers,” he said. “We want people to read them so we will give them to people. If ever you find them lying everywhere it means that people would have thrown them away. We want the city to be clean.

“Jumbo (games mascot) will be giving away various presents to children. Christmas will come early for the children because they will be nice prizes on offer for them. jumbo

“Jumbo will also be giving away mini-flags that will contain information like which countries are taking part in the games.”

A total of 11 countries are expected to take part in the games which will be held on December 5-14 in Bulawayo.
