After bashing the suspected girlfriend, the women dragged her into a bushy area and cut her hair off.

This came to light when Sithandazile Ncube (23), the aggrieved wife, appeared in court accompanied by her accomplices Happiness Ntabeni, Valentine Shumbayaonda and Patience Phiri at the Western Commonage Magistrates’ Court, where they pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting the 17-year-old girlfriend.

The magistrate Tancy Chipumha-Dube granted the four women $50 bail each and remanded them out of custody to January 12 next year.

Ncube admitted to the charge and boldly exclaimed that she had no right to assault the teenager, although she insisted she deserved to be bashed as she had an affair with a married man.

“I admit the wrongdoing, however, she deserves to be taught a lesson that kids do not accept married men’s proposals,” she said in her defence.

“Even if I was desperate I would not have opted for a neighbour’s husband knowing his wife was pregnant like you.”

The three accomplices, on the other hand, stood quietly gazing at Ncube as she gave her defence in court.

Agreed facts are that on December 12 at Entumbane near Nhliziyo shopping centre, the women saw the teenager approaching them and decided to threaten her.

They stood in her way and asked her why she was dating a married man. The girl said the assailants then asked to go somewhere private, where they could discuss the issue.

They then allegedly assaulted her before grabbing a scissors and cutting off her hair, claiming Ncube’s husband had paid for her hairdo. Kenneth Shava represented the State.
