A PROPHET with an unstated apostolic church is in trouble after he allegedly raped a female patient who fainted during a prayer session.

Aleck Mushowani (32) of Tegela in Bulawayo was not asked to plead to the rape charge when he appeared before Bulawayo senior magistrate Sibongile Msipa Marondedze while applying for bail yesterday.
The magistrate remanded him to February 26 and ordered him to pay a bail of $100, reside at his stated residence, surrender his passport to the court and to report once a week on Friday at Sauerstown Police Station until the matter is finalised.
The court heard that on February 2 this year, the complainant, a 34-year-old woman from Morningside, Bulawayo — who works in the city centre as a salesperson — knocked off from work at 5pm and went to Mushowani’s work place.
She knew Mushowani as a prophet and the two agreed to go together to her house as she wanted him to pray for her.
They left the city centre at 5:45pm.
When they arrived at her home, Mushowani asked that they go to her bedroom together for prayers.

He started praying for her while she was kneeling.
Later he allegedly asked her to put some water in a dish and he put some small stones and unknown substances in it.
He ordered her to remove her blouse and remain with a string top before she covered herself with a blanket to inhale steam while he prayed for her.
After the whole process, he told her that he wanted to sprinkle water in her bedroom.
The woman opened her bedroom and he started sprinkling water in it before he ordered her to kneel down again.
He then pulled up her string top and smeared her with a Vaseline-like substance on her stomach and started fondling her.
It is the State’s case that when she wanted to ask him what he was doing she fell unconscious and Mushowani then allegedly raped her.
When she regained consciousness, she discovered that she was sitting with him on the floor and he asked her to bring him some water which she did. It is alleged that as she was unconscious, the prophet had also helped her six-year-old son with his homework.
The woman said she then went to toilet to relieve herself and she felt some itching on her private parts.
When she checked she discovered that she had semen while her undergarment was wet.
She advised her aunt about the matter and a report was made to the police, leading to Mushowani’s arrest.
