Simbi who appeared before Gweru magistrate Judith Taruvinga was not asked to plead and released on $100 bail.

The mining businessman who deals in gold will reappear in court on March 10 for trial.

Allegations against Simbi are that sometime in September last year he invited the complainant to a lodge in Lundi Park where he asked for sexual favours, which she turned down.

Simbi allegedly produced a pistol before undressing the teenager and raping her once.

The businessman allegedly went on to rape the girl on several occasions between September and November 2014.

The girl reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the councillor on February 9.
