After weeks of internal fights epitomised by the chaos over the selection of the party’s candidate for the Harare East constituency by-election, with two distinct factions emerging, one led by Kasukuwere and another by the party’s secretary for administration, Ignatius Chombo, the war veterans saw an opportune time to step in.
