BULAWAYO City are close to clinching the sole ticket to play in the top-flight league next season, but they have Black Boots to account for when the two sides clash at Fairbridge in a Southern Region Soccer League match on Saturday.
BY FORTUNE MBELE
The Philani Ncube coached side only need seven points to gain promotion to top-flight football and any slackening from the local authority side at this stage could bring back Bulawayo Chiefs into contention.
City are on 58 points and two wins and a draw in the last five matches will see them through as they will reach an unassailable 65 points.
They lead Chiefs by nine points and if the former Southern Region Division One champions win all their remaining games, they finish the season at 64 points.
Chiefs, under the guidance of Thulani Sibanda, are also away to Makomo at Old Hwange Stadium tomorrow.
ZPC Hwange on 46 points and sitting on position three, host Ntabazinduna Prison in the coal-mining town tomorrow while Techonesphere and Hwange, tied on 43 points clash at Turk Mine.
Bantu Rovers, who are no longer in the race sitting on position seven, with 40 points, take on Nust at White City Stadium.
