THE inaugural Pumula’s Got Talent (PGT) event held in Bulawayo, organised by Yellow World, was a resounding success, drawing in a large crowd of young people and community leaders from across the city.
The event, which saw over 75 contestants showcasing their talents, was held over the weekend and received overwhelming support from the Bulawayo community.
Yellow World founder and executive director Mentor Dlamini said the event went according to expectation.
“The event was what we expected it to be and we received a lot of support from the community,” he said.
“We had a lot of young people who participated as well as leaders of Pumula, including the councillors and the Members of Parliament who helped with their support.”
Dlamini added that the highlight of the event was when the leaders presented the rewards to the winners, delivering inspiring speeches that encouraged young people to participate in community development and artists to be the voice of the voiceless.
He emphasised the importance of collaboration among arts organisations and involving grassroots communities.
“I think that arts organisations can collaborate more in these kinds of events and involve the grassroots because that is where most of the support comes from,” he said.

The Yellow World founder and executive director also revealed that the success of the first edition has sparked hopes for a quarterly event, with the second edition tentatively scheduled for December. Dlamini expressed satisfaction with the outcome, highlighting that everything turned out to be great.
The event brought together Bulawayo creatives, providing a platform for them to showcase their talents and inspiring others to do the same.
“We are hoping that the event becomes a quarterly event,” he said, adding that the organisation was committed to nurturing talent and promoting community development through arts.
