Award-winning jazz maestro Josh Meck has once again captured the essence of resilience and hope in his stirring new single, Anenyasha. Through this soul-soothing melody, Meck delves into the heartfelt struggles and aspirations of those seeking a better life, including the many who journey to the diaspora for opportunities beyond their homeland.

In an exclusive interview with IndependentXtra, Meck shared his vision for aggressively promoting the Josh Meck brand saying that the single’s release marks the start of a series of new works he will be publishing, most of which will be singles.

The single resonates with the spirit of perseverance, offering a comforting message that life’s tribulations are but fleeting shadows against the canvas of time.

“It will be from a track of the album that won the Zima (Zimbabwe Music Awards) award. We had not done any videos for that album, so we are releasing another video for one of the songs on that album,” Meck said. “I am not going to say which song because it is going to be more of a surprise, but that will be coming soon this month (December).”

In the depths of the song’s emotionally charged harmonies, Meck extends a beacon of optimism, whispering to the weary that their burdens are temporary, and brighter days are coming. With a profound understanding of life’s intricate tapestry, he acknowledges the omnipotent presence of the divine — affirming that God holds the power to transform desolate moments into seasons of abundance.

Already, reviews of the single are rolling in, with one praising it as more than a song, but a “heartfelt prayer recognising a celestial guardianship that mends broken souls and vigilantly watches over his children”.

His latest album titled Nhaka YeMusha, which translates to National Heritage, won the Best Jazz Album 2023 at Zima.
