NGO drills boreholes in city.

Borehole drilling

A non-governmental organisation, Lot Water project, has drilled seven boreholes in Bulawayo’s Luveve suburb that was the epicentre of the city’s worst diarrhoea outbreak in years.

At least 13 people died of diarrhoea in Luveve in 2020.

The outbreak was blamed on water shortages among others, as residents were going for days without the precious liquid.

“We organised resources to drill boreholes through the Lot Water project,” the NGO’s United States-based manager Innocent Hadebe said.

“We have donated seven state-of-the-art boreholes in the community and we are yet to donate more to alleviate the water situation.”
