7 Zimsec exam cheaters nabbed

This year’s Zimsec Ordinary and Advanced level examinations are underway.

SEVEN people have been arrested following a crackdown on fraudsters selling fake Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) questions papers.

This year’s Zimsec Ordinary and Advanced level examinations are underway.

Some of the fraudsters were caught advertising fake examination papers, while others were apprehended while cheating during the examinations.

In a statement yesterday, Zimsec said some of the fraudsters had already been convicted at the courts, but no candidate had pre-access to the 2023 examination question papers.

“At the time of writing this statement there are no Zimsec November 2023 Examinations candidates who had pre-access to the 2023 question papers in as far as the examinations which were sat for. Investigations were done to weed out the fraudsters who were capitalising on unsuspecting candidates.”

Zimsec said the investigations have led to some arrests and the culprits have since appeared before the courts.

Last year, a number of Zimsec O Level examination papers leaked before pupils sat for their final examinations and about 590 suspects were caught cheating while sitting for the final examinations.
