Government is working on creating more jobs for youths, Acting President Constantino Chiwenga has said.
He was addressing Zanu PF supporters at a rally at eBusteni in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, yesterday.
Chiwenga was campaigning for ruling Zanu PF party candidate Aurther Mujeyi, who is eyeing the Cowdray Park seat and Kidwel Mujuru, who is contesting for the council ward.
The seat and ward became vacant following the recall of Citizens Coalition for Change legislator Pashor Sibanda and councillor Nkosilathi Hove Mpofu by self-proclaimed party interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu.
Addressing the supporters, Chiwenga said recalls within the CCC party had come as a blessing in disguise for Zanu PF.
“The opposition party has confusions and removed their representatives in Parliament who said they had won in the previous elections which has become a reason to restart our elections,” Chiwenga said.
He said government was considering implementing the smart city concept through improvement in health services and roads in Cowdray Park while building more schools in the constituency.
“We will create working places for youths and women who will be assisted with loans from women’s bank and youth empowerment bank and we will ensure that every house gets title deeds,” Chiwenga said.

He condemned the Bulawayo City Council for poor service delivery hence the need for the government to intervene.
“Road rehabilitation and installation of electricity is supposed to be done by councils, but they are failing to. The government is drilling boreholes and rehabilitating roads because the council has failed,” he added.
“Under the road rehabilitation programme, we fixed several roads which include 12th Avenues, George Avenue, Masiyephambili and Nketa Drive and we will continue with the programmes regardless of the failures of the council.”
Chiwenga pledged to end the water crisis in Cowdray Park through installation of pipes which will carry water to the high-density suburb.
“We want to fix pipes which carry water from Gwayi-Shangani Dam to Cowdray Park. We have tried to end the water crisis in the City of Bulawayo through getting water from Eppington Forest using dams in Matabeleland South (province) to bring water here,” he said.
