InterAfrica, CAG scoop transport awards

Inter Africa director Dr Leornard Mukumba attributed the success to hard work.

TWO of the country's leading transporters, InterAfrica and CAG Travellers Coaches have bagged awards for best Transport Solution and Management Project.

The prestigious awards organised by Chartered Institute of Project Managers Zimbabwe (CIPMZ) were held at a Harare hotel Thursday night.

CIPMZ awards exist to recognise, honour and promote outstanding achievements in program and project leadership.

CAG came first followed by Inter Africa and lastly Trip Trans.

The awards were received under the Zimbabwe Project Management Achievements Awards.

CIPMZ said the three bus operators won the Transport Solution and Management Project after effectively dealing with transport challenges through innovations.

The bus operators also exhibited commitment to sustainability and competence and having a positive impact on the community.

Inter Africa director Dr Leornard Mukumba attributed the success to hard work.

“I thank God for continuing to make wonders in my life. I also thank my team and family,” he said.

The awards come at a time when the government has tightened screws on buses in a bid to weed out reckless bus operators causing unnecessary loss of life due to speeding.

Government issued a Statutory instrument 118 ordering bus operators to fit speed tracking and limiting devices pegged at 100 kilometres per hour on the main roads.

Earlier this year the government temporarily suspended bus operators Rimbi and Zebra Cross operating licences over reckless driving.
