TWENTY-SEVEN nations have literally invaded this year’s 64th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) after bringing more than 120 exhibitors to the premier event.

About 70 exhibitors from outside Zimbabwe participated at the fair last year.

ZITF board chairperson Busisa Moyo said foreign exhibitors were expected from Belarus, Botswana, China, European Union, Indonesia, Japan, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Mozambique, South Africa, the UAE, France, Germany, Italy, Romania, Sweden, Netherlands, UK, US, Kenya, the Kingdom of eSwatini, Brazil, Switzerland and Zambia.

“New countries that came on board are Brazil, Kingdom of eSwatini, Indonesia, South Korea, Namibia and Romania,” he said.

ZITF 2024, which will run from today to April 27, will be held under the theme: “Entrepreneurship: The Catalyst for Industrialisation and Trade.”

Moyo said the premier exhibition would showcase various industries and sectors that exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit from manufacturing and technology to agriculture and value-addition services in Zimbabwe.

“The new theme recognises that innovation and entrepreneurship are complementary forces that work together to open pathways to economic growth and progress.

“Entrepreneurs leverage on innovation to create successful businesses, while innovation thrives through the adaptability and risk appetite of entrepreneurs,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution minister Judith Ncube has urged residents to maintain a good picture of the city to lure investors to the country.

“We are happy to welcome all our visitors internationally, regionally and locally. Let us co-operate and collaborate with them to make Bulawayo great.

“Let’s make a good picture of our city by cleaning our environment. Let those who would have clinched business deals with other companies come forward so that we celebrate together,” Ncube said.
