ZANU PF Manicaland chairperson Tawanda Mukodza yesterday warned party members to be wary of shadowy affiliates allegedly infiltrating the ruling party to sow divisions.
A number of shadowy groups calling themselves Zanu PF affiliates have emerged, all pledging undying loyalty to the ruling party.
Their presence has caused ructions in Zanu PF as some of the affiliates have been accused of side-stepping official structures and propping up some politicians for personal benefit.
This is amid intense infighting within the ruling party over President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s succession battle.
Speaking during the opening of a provincial office of the affiliate group, Boys DzaMudhara, in Mutare yesterday, Mukodza said affiliates should toe the party line.
“We have some people who are riding on affiliates to sow divisions in Zanu PF,” he said.
“As party members, you should be aware of such people and block them for causing divisions in the movement. We want unity.”
He urged the affiliate to set up structures and regularise its operations.

“I believe you are going to come up with structures because our secretary-general Obert Mpofu said our affiliates should have structures, there is a circular about that,” he said.
Boys DzaMudhara Manicaland chairman Trymore Chimbongora said they would not stray.
“We are in agreement on the need to promote unity and harmony within party structures,” he said.
“Now that we have offices, we can assure the province that our activities cannot only be structured and monitored, but will be guided by the party.”
