FORMER National University of Science and Technology student, Lovejoy Ncube, says she studied engineering to break the stereotype of the field being a male-dominated profession.
Ncube who grew up in Bulawayo says she was pained in seeing women being the minority
in the male dominated engineering industry.
She first enrolled for an engineering course at the Bulawayo Polytechnic College where she excelled and even won an award.
“This then led me to an opportunity of being a lecturer at Bulawayo Polytechnic College,” she said.
“Noticing that technology was advancing, I found it fit to broaden my knowledge in technology and networking in an ultra-modern technique by furthering my studies and I earned an honours degree in computer science from the National University of Science and Technology.
“Attaining distinctions in digital forensics and in information systems security and many more in my programme gave me the keenness to pursue and earn a master of science degree in information security and digital forensics with the University of East London, United Kingdom Foundation, Los Angeles USA.”
Ncube is also a board member at Ingwebu Breweries.

“Throughout my journey in the male-dominated profession, I had to work harder and be two steps forward to outshine my colleagues and earn respect. I mentor girl children to make them grow in self-esteem,” she said.
