A FUEL station in Bulawayo’s Nketa 9 high-density suburb has been fined US$400 for operating illegally.

Maryln Mpofu, who was representing Boss Petroleum Investment, pleaded guilty to the charge of operating without a Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) certificate when he appeared before magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa on Tuesday.

The magistrate fined the service station US$400.

The court heard that on October 3 this year, Dabengwa was on duty checking Zera retail licences at fuel stations when he visited Boss Petroleum Investment, where employees failed to produce a licence.

The service station was given one week grace period to get a Zera retail licence, but failed to get one.
