Tobacco thief in court

A Centenary man appeared in court last week charged with stealing tobacco bales from a moving truck.

Walter Nyanduwa (28) appeared at the Concession magistrates courts on Thursday facing two counts of theft.

Magistrate Charity Maunga remanded him out of custody to August 28.

Prosecutor Munyaradzi Nengomasha alleged on August 2, Nyanduwa and his eight accomplices who are still at large hatched a plan to steal tobacco bales from a moving truck at Chidamba hills in Mazowe.

They boarded the truck and offloaded 19 bales of tobacco while it was moving.

The complainants were alerted by other motorists that their tobacco had been looted.
