The applicant (names withheld to protect the minor) told Harare magistrate Sharon Mashavira that her ex-husband was verbally and emotionally abusing their child.

A Harare man was dragged to court on Friday by his estranged wife for sending their eight year old daughter obscene text messages.

The applicant (names withheld to protect the minor) told Harare magistrate Sharon Mashavira that her ex-husband was verbally and emotionally abusing their child.

She said the respondent calls the minor a prostitute.

“He sends the child messages insulting her saying she is a prostitute and that she is following in my footsteps of being sexually involved with different men,” said the mother.

She pleaded with the court to be granted a protection order for herself and the minor child.

The respondent did not deny the accusations.

He said he did not want to comment on anything and Mashavira granted the woman the peace order.
