TWO security guards allegedly stole 500 litres of diesel from World Bank offices in Harare.

Forward Kawanzaruwa (43) from Epworth and Peter Kutama appeared before Harare magistrate Ethel Chichera on Thursday facing theft charges.

They were remanded in custody to tomorrow for bail application.

State prosecutor Rufaro Chonzi told the court that between April 27 and 28, 2024 at World Bank offices, the accused persons conspired to steal 500 litres from a standby generator.

It is alleged that the accused persons committed the offense when they were on night duty guarding the World Bank offices.

The court heard that the duo tried to cover up for the offence by raising a false alarm to their reaction team.

The reaction team reacted to the false alarm and did not find anything amiss.

The two suspects were arrested after a replay of the CCTV monitors which revealed the accused persons committing the offence.
