Liverpool’s Zimbabwean teenager, Trey Nyoni, who was called out to train with the senior team by coach Jurgen Klopp ahead of the team’s Europa League clash with French side Toulouse on Thursday, cannot play in that match due to Uefa rules.

Nyoni made a big step in his career after training with the senior squad following an impressive run in the juniors since he joined from Leicester.

The 16-year old midfielder has scored four goals and made three assists for Liverpool’s academy side.

The experience of rubbing shoulders with the team’s cast of superstars will be invaluable to Nyoni but he can’t make his European debut because Uefa rules which state that:

“Players aged 16 may be registered on List B if they have been registered with the participating club for the previous two years without interruption.”

Having joined Liverpool at the beginning of the season Nyoni cannot be registered on the List B.
